Viola A. Houghtaling, age
92, formerly of Middlebury Center, PA, died April 25, 2005, at Broad Acres
Nursing Home, Wellsboro, PA. She was the wife of the late Leroy Houghtaling
who died Nov. 14, 1994. Viola was born March 2, 1913, the daugher
of the late Ellery and Addie Skinner Watkins.
She was a Knoxville High School graduate, homemaker and school bus driver for over 40 years for the Wellsboro School District, retiring in 1980. She and her husband owned and operated Houghtaling's Garage farm equipment dealership for over 40 years. She was a member of the Keeneyville United Methodist Church and the Middlebury Grange 705. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Priscilla and Dean Cass of York, PA.; son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Colleen Houghtaling of Keeneyville; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Susan and Greg Beck of Red Lion, PA., 2 grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Jeffery and Danette Cass of Dover, PA, and Jeremy and Nicole Houghtaling of Williamsport, PA.; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; sisters, Winifred Brugger of Westfield, PA. and Clesta Raker of Liberty, PA.; brothers, Vernard Watkins of Little Marsh, PA. and Leslie Watkins of Little Marsh, PA.; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceeded in death by one son, Elroy, in 1976, and brother Forest Watkins in 1981. |
